Our little love!

Ben and Ada both love this time together.

I'm guilty, I enjoy dressing her up.

Tummy time turned into tummy nap time... don't worry I was right there with her the whole time.

I walked in to check on her during her nap and she was raising her hand.  I seriously think she dreams about going to school.
Some of the things I have learned while being a mom:
1. The 5 S's really work and I love them.  She is one happy baby because of it!
2. Ben is the best when it comes to getting her to sleep in the evening.
3. Huggies Newborn diapers are not my friends - but Pampers and the Walmart brand are! (Target brand is the next experiment).
4.  The most important thing I've learned is that I have a lot to learn- and I love every minute of this learning process!

3 generations

Oops
This was the day Oma went back to California... sad day- but we were so glad she could come and spend 2 weeks with us.  Looking at these pictures is so much fun because I've always wanted a generations picture.  We've got to get a great-grandma in there so we can have 4 generations.  There have been a lot of times Ada will stretch her neck out and it reminds me of my mom (Oma) and well- now the tears come, so this blog entry is officially over.  Love you mom.  You are the best and I never understood your love as well as I do now having a sweet little girl of my own.

Ada Cheney

Ada was born August 24, 2011 and we couldn't be any happier than we are now.  Ben was able to take Wednesday through Tuesday off from work (which was part of his first and second week of school).  Mom came Tuesday and Ben went back to work on Wednesday.  Mom has kept on top of all the cleaning and organizing while she has been here.  She makes sure I drink enough and get some rest.  We love having her here and will miss her when she goes back to California.
Today we are watching the BYU football game and of course we had to find a blue dress and blue bow for her to wear on this special day.

Things we have loved about being parents:
1. Cuddling and kissing our sweet little girl.
2. Picking out an outfit for her to wear
3. Believe it or not- waking up to feed her at night
4. Singing to her
5. Watching her cute facial expressions
6. Cheering when we find that she pooped.

Happy 2 years to us!

Updates:

1. Ben and I will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary on Monday August 8th.  Ben is more and more amazing to me.  His gentle heart and kind words are exactly what I need.  A lot has happened in this past year- Ben's first year as a high school teacher, building our first house and all the wonderful things that come along with being pregnant.  We realized I've been pregnant for almost half of our marriage (well only 9 months of it- but still).  We are so happy to be welcoming baby Ada into the world this month (or the beginning of next).  I love being pregnant and wouldn't have the pregnancy go any other way.  It has been wonderful (let's cross our fingers they all go this well).

2. Ben got a lawn mower and weed wacker- so he is LOVING taking care of the yard.  He actually really does love it!

3. Ben put together the grill that was gifted to us and hasn't stopped grilling since he and some great friends helped him put it together.

The first time the grill was used.  A view from the inside out.

Turkey Burgers and Veggie kabobs

Look at the smile on that face.  Kim and Jacob are looking at it too, but I'm bummed we didn't get a picture of them.

4. I have been called in the Relief Society Presidency and am VERY excited about it.  To some it seemed odd that I would be given this calling a month before the baby comes, but to me it is perfect timing.  This is what I really need to grow right now as a sister and mother.

5. I baked bread!  I've baked this recipe before, but this time I went a little overboard (on purpose).  Ben and I went on a date delivering bread.  It was a lot of fun to do and we got to know some more people in our new ward.

We are always up for an adventure!

No picture this time

I keep getting the strangest feeling that no one looks at our blog.  With this said, I think I'm okay to just post some thoughts and not post any pictures.  What is that you say?  You are looking at our blog?  Well then, I apologize, but suggest writing a few comments now and again so I know at least someone is sneaking a peak into our lives.  You don't have to-but if you do it just might motivate me to post a bit more.

I've been writing in a baby journal about our adventures and my feelings while pregnant, so I haven't done a great job of posting much in this blog.  I am now 36 weeks along and am still in shock that I'm pregnant.  Even though little Ada just kicked me just now, I still feel a bit in shock that she is going to come out.  Ben and I took a 4 week class at the hospital that was AWESOME!  We learned so much about labor, delivery, anatomy, post partum, nursing, medicine, emotional as well as physical support from the husband and best of all we feel a bit more prepared to bring Ada into the world.  We made great friends, learned a lot about eachother's needs and expectations and had a tour of the hospital where she will be born.  One of the sillier parts was when Ben was laying on the hospital bed and the instructor was going over the C-section routine and she handed the baby to me, which I dropped about 2 minutes later.  The joke of course the next week was, "Stacie, don't drop the baby".

This pregnancy journey has been AMAZING!  I have loved being pregnant and yes, we plan on this happening again.  Ben has been extra loving, if that is even possible, during the pregnancy.  I am still amazed at how well he treats me and how supportive he is during this sometimes emotional time.

Another glimpse into how awesome Ben is- He wouldn't type this story himself... so I will. Yesterday he helped our new neighbor a few houses down (who are members of the church and were in our last ward... we basically moved into our houses the same month).  Well anyways... Matthew is 10 and his Dad doesn't live with him.  He is part of cub scouts and bought the space craft for the space derby (like the pinewood cart derby).  Ben went over to help him get it ready.  Sweet Ben had never made one before either, so they learned together.  By the time it was time to go to the derby it still wasn't finished.  They took it to the derby anyways and got last minute help there.  Well- guess who won the derby?  Matthew!!!  He got first place.  His spacecraft wasn't painted or fancy... but it worked great!  I didn't know Matthew won until he and his mom stopped by the house on their way home, (Ben was still at the church playing basketball) and there was Matthew with his certificates and a huge smile.  I couldn't believe it!! I gave him a high five and a hug.  It brought a tear to my eye.... I love the love my husbands shares with everyone!  Especially this sweet boy Matthew, who wouldn't have even gone to the activity had he not gotten the help from Ben is making the spacecraft.  Ben is amazing and I'm so excited to see him teaching our children through that same love he showed to Matthew.

Oma's Visit to Texas

Mom was there our first Sunday in our new ward (we hadn't moved into our house just yet though).

Our first night in our new house we busted out the sparkling cider!

Mom made Ben the happiest boy/new home owner in the world and bought him his first drill.

Our friends from Dallas came down for 4th of July.  This was our breakfast that morning and I think might even be Ben's creation.

We went to the waterway with David and Laura brown (down from Dallas) and of course not just little kids played in the fountains.

Mary was able to come over twice to visit with mom.  They even went out to a movie!
This was the concert we went to on the 3rd of July.  Complete with cannons but no fireworks (there was a ban in our area because of the drought).

David and Laura (who is also as prego as I am) watching the concert.   My feet swelled the most they ever had that night- and luckily that was the only hot and humid night Mom had to deal with.
Mom came to visit for two weeks and I was very sad to see her off at the airport.  We had so much fun packing and unpacking together- and let's not forget cleaning too.  She was our Angel and rock star for the two weeks- doing anything and everything.  We went to lots of friends houses for dinner and had lots of friends over while she was here, and I think she understands more and more why we love Texas (it's all about the people).  She's coming back for the baby and I can't wait.  I don't think I've ever had her all to myself before and I just loved every minute.  I also don't think I've ever cried so hard at the airport as I did when she left.  Luckily Ben has amazing shoulders to cry on.  We love you mom!

Patriotic at the Dairy Days Parade, I guess I should have not been taking the picture at that moment and have my hand over my heart too... woops.

We were going slow, and yes I know a 7 month prego lady should not be on a tube, but I did- and I'm fine and so is baby...
Marshmellow guns and the nephews.  Ben couldn't be happier.  Thanks David and Liz for the best gift in the world!

Down by the campfire at the cabin.

Ben shaved RJ's head, and RJ shaved Ben's head... that was the deal, because RJ is deathly afraid of getting his hair cut.
